The new year is just a month away, and if you blink long enough, it might be here by the time you open your eyes. With the new year comes new goals, new dreams, and of course, new opportunities. Although we don't know everything that the new year holds, we think it's pretty safe to assume that the internet won't be going anywhere, and having a laptop that helps you push the envelope this year is almost as important as pushing it in the first place. There's no need to go into the new year with the same old computer problems you had last year, so we've put together a few super quick ways you can fix them to make sure your PC is running as fast as ever.
1. Uninstall unnecessary software: Windows computers come with a lot of funky software preinstalled, like those games you never play and apps you never knew you had. Uninstalling them can free up a good amount of space on your drive, and takes just a few clicks!
2. Clean things up: There are a lot of great tools to clean up unwanted files on your drive, and Cortana can help you find them. Type "optimize" into Cortana to pull up a list of options. If you're feeling particularly inspired, download a trusted third party program to help tidy things up even more. Just Google some choices for your specific computer model, and make sure they're trusted by the brand you're using.
3. Use the performance troubleshooter to, well, troubleshoot: Cortana has another handy tool that springs into action when you type "troubleshoot" into the search bar. The computer runs a check of its systems and actually gives you options to optimize for the best performance based on the specific configuration you have on your system. It's a great, automated way to make sure you're getting the most bang for your virtual buck.
